First presented in 2015, the Lavender Awards recognize individuals, departments, and organizations that have made Georgia Tech a safer and more inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and asexual students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Each year, the Center presents four awards: The Billiee Pendleton Parker Award for Outstanding Allyship, The Award for LGBTQIA Student Leadership, The Award for LGBTQIA Faculty/Staff Leadership, and The LGBTQIA Alum of the Year Award. To honor those individuals who have demonstrated significant and sustained commitment to the LGBTQIA community, the Center also awards the Lavender Lifetime Achievement Award; this honor is only given on those years where such a deserving individual has been identified. In 2020, the awards will be presented at Lavender Graduation on Wednesday, April 15th at 6pm in the Gordy Room.
An awards committee reviews all nominations and selects winners.
To nominate an individual, department, or organization for an award, please read the descriptions below and complete our online nomination form. You can submit as many nominations as you wish. Please provide as much detail as possible and include specific examples of why the nominee deserves the award so that our awards committee can make the most informed decisions. Deadline to submit nominations is Friday, March 13 at noon.
