No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Institut Lafayette is a partner on Groupe PSA’s Intelligent Battery Integrated System (IBIS) project. Launched in January 2019, with a planned 4-year duration, IBIS has a total project budget of 9.7 million Euros.
With the car battery comprising 40% of the cost of each automobile, Groupe PSA has an interest in developing a battery that will be more cost-effective and also with greater connectivity to electric networks. Growing environmental concerns also drive the company to invest more in developing electric vehicles.
The end goal of the IBIS project is to grow the appeal of electric vehicles by decreasing both production and sales costs of electric vehicles, making them accessible to more consumers. At the same time they will optimize the powertrain volume (and notably the battery).
Institut Lafayette’s contribution to IBIS is developing a new generation of electronic devices based on GaN semiconductors for the integration of commutation components in intelligent battery systems.
Funded by the French Environment and Energy Control Agency, “This project enables Institut Lafayette to demonstrate its expertise and know-how on emerging electronic technology based on Gallium Nitride materials. It is also a great opportunity for Institut Lafayette to play its role of technology transfer platform, bringing new technologies from the lab to the marketplace,” said Abdallah Ougazzaden, co-founder and co-president of Institut Lafayette, along with Bernard Kippelen.
