*********************************
There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. You use metaphor in every conversation. It's how you understand much of the world around you.

Kevin Gibby will discuss the concept of metaphor and how it is not merely a linguistic device used only by poets. We think and communicate in metaphor all the time. Emotions, love, time, computers, and career progression are just some examples of areas we use metaphor to reason and communicate about. Learning about metaphor as a concept will help you communicate and reason about your life more effectively.
