Since arriving at Georgia Tech on February 3, Kelly Fox, executive vice president for Administration and Finance (A&F), has been actively meeting with A&F staff to learn the business of Georgia Tech and gain perspective from leadership as well as the employees performing the important work on campus.

“It is vital during these first few months to listen — and listen well — about what is working and what can be improved,” stated Fox. “You cannot possibly plan for how best to lead a team like A&F, with its more than 1,700 staff, if you don’t take the time to learn from the people.”

And after careful review and thoughtful discussions with leadership, Fox is announcing the following initial restructuring changes to more effectively align resources in A&F and begin the transition out of the interim leadership phase of the past 18 months.

Effective immediately, Jim Fortner, vice president for Finance, will lead a combined portfolio of offices responsible for managing financial and planning resources. Reporting to Fortner will be Real Estate Development, Office of the Controller, Bursar and Treasury Services, Grants and Contracts Accounting, and Procurement and Business Services. Jennifer Hubert will also report directly to Fortner and continue in the position of interim associate vice president of Institute Planning and Resource Management. Institutional Research and Enterprise Data Management, Institute Budget Planning and Administration, Capital Planning and Space Management, and Enterprise Resource Planning will continue to report directly to Hubert. These changes will help ensure alignment of the Institute’s financial and planning resources as well as reinforce strong reporting relationships.

Also, effective immediately, Information Technology and Human Resources will report directly to the executive vice president for Administration and Finance. According to Fox, the Institute’s technology and workforce assets are critical components to its success, and the time is right to make these reporting changes.

At this time, Campus Services, Facilities Management, and the Georgia Tech Police Department will continue to report directly to Mark Demyanek, interim senior vice president for Administration.

“I cannot thank the interim leadership team enough for their tireless dedication to this great institution and for helping to position the Institute for success,” said Fox.
