Abigail VaughnThe Sam Nunn School of International Affairs is excited to announce that Abigail Vaughn will join our faculty in fall 2020 as an assistant professor.
Vaughn’s research interests are in international political economy with an emphasis on financial statecraft, comparative financial institutions, and emerging market economies. Her focus is on studying the influence of international political ties on global finance, with special attention to the proliferation and impact of bilateral currency swap arrangements. Her research finds that central banks can leverage bilateral alliances and strategic partnerships to stop economic misbehavior among allies that, in turn, improves financial stability and prevents financial crises among recipient states.
Vaughn is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs at Princeton University. She received an M.A and Ph.D. from the University of California San Diego, and was awarded a B.A. from the University of Oregon.
