On Thursday, Feb. 6, the Office of Special Scholarships will host Georgia Supreme Court Justice Nels Peterson for a conversation with students. The talk, which will take place in the West Village Ensemble Room at 5:30 p.m., will focus on ethical decision-making, leadership, and his path to the state’s highest court.

Justice Peterson completed his undergraduate education at Kennesaw State University before receiving a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he served as the executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. After graduating from Harvard, Justice Peterson worked at the private firm King and Spalding LLP in Atlanta before moving to the public sector. He worked in both the governor’s office and attorney general’s office in Georgia before being appointed to the state’s Court of Appeals. Former Governor Nathan Deal appointed him to the Supreme Court of Georgia, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

During the event, students will have time to ask questions and interact with Justice Peterson. For those interested in attending, the deadline to RSVP on Engage is Friday, Jan. 31.
