Kelly FoxFollowing a national search, the Georgia Institute of Technology has selected Kelly Fox as its new executive vice president for Administration and Finance. She joins Georgia Tech from the University of Colorado Boulder, where she serves as executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer.
As the executive vice president, Fox will provide leadership, oversight, and direction for the Division of Administration and Finance, which includes financial management and reporting; budgeting; human resources; business services; campus sustainability; facilities planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations; campus safety; auxiliary operations; information systems and technology; campus planning; real estate development; and organizational development. More than 1,750 staff report through the Division. Fox will begin her new role on Feb. 1, 2020, and report to President Ángel Cabrera.
“Kelly Fox has held positions of progressively responsible financial leadership in higher education that will serve us well at Georgia Tech,” Cabrera said. “At the University of Colorado, she has spearheaded student-centered solutions, led in increasing organizational effectiveness and inclusiveness, promoted institutional integrity, and overseen $1 billion in capital construction.”
At the University of Colorado Boulder, Fox leads Strategic Resources and Support, guiding the financial management and planning activities of the $1.8 billion university budget. Prior to that, she served as vice president and chief financial officer for the four-campus University of Colorado system. In all, Fox has spent nearly 20 years working in public higher education.
“Georgia Tech is a prestigious research institution, and I look forward to working with President Cabrera and his leadership team to create shared goals and commitments for the future,” said Fox. “Georgia Tech’s innovative culture and its student- and faculty-centered approach help drive the state of Georgia and the nation forward.”
Jim Fortner, who has served as interim executive vice president since August 2018, will return to his former duties as vice president of Finance as well as support the leadership transition.
“As we welcome Kelly, we also extend our gratitude to Jim for serving as Georgia Tech’s interim EVP over the past 16 months. We will be forever grateful for his consistent leadership on behalf of the Institute,” Cabrera said.
