There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Abstract:
The objective of the proposed research is to design and implement resonant accelerometers for high-end applications which require high resolution, wide bandwidth, as well as wide dynamic range. These specifications are hard to be achieved by conventional capacitive quasi-static accelerometer or mechanical frequency modulation accelerometer because of a strong tradeoff relationship between specifications. To overcome these challenges, electrostatic frequency modulation (eFM) type acceleration sensing mechanism is presented. Two different types of eFM accelerometers are identified and their functionalities are demonstrated for different target specifications.
