There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

The Machine Learning Center invites you to a lecture by Arthur Szlam, a research scientist at Facebook.
Title: Language and Interaction in Minecraft
Abstract: Szlam will discuss a research program aimed at building a Minecraft assistant (or minion, playmate, etc.) The scientific meta-goal of this program is to facilitate the study of agents that can complete tasks specified by dialogue, and eventually, to learn from interactions with players. He will describe the tools and platform we have built, allowing agents and people to play Minecraft together, and the data we have collected. In addition, Szlam will describe an initial agent from which we (and hopefully others) can iterate.
Bio: Arthur Szlam is a research scientist at Facebook. Prior to joining Facebook, Szlam was an assistant professor at the City College of New York (CCNY) in the math department. He earned his Ph.D. under R. Coifman at Yale University.
