The Center for European and Transatlantic Studies (CETS), commemorated the 30th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall on Monday, November 4th.
Panelists presented on Postcommunist Society & Culture and Postcommunist Security. Milada Vachudova from the Department of Political Science at UNC Chapel Hill held the Keynote.
Jan Uelzmann, Associate Chair and Associate Professor of German of the School of Modern Languages presented a paper titled “The Wall in People’s Heads,” focusing on the ongoing sociopolitical differences that continue to exist between the former East- and West Germany, 30 years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall marked the beginning of the end of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) and the FRG and the GDR were reunited on October 3, 1990.
