After Hurricane Dorian rampaged through the Bahamas, the Georgia Institute of Technology and Oglethorpe University came together for a worthy cause. In just one month, more than 1,000 items were collected for its victims.

In just one month, more than 1,000 items were collected for its victims.
The initiative was led by Tysh Coleman, an administrative manager in the Sam Nunn School, in partnership with the Ivan Allen College, Georgia Tech Police Department and Oglethorpe University Civic Engagement.
“We felt this was an immediate and pressing disaster that called for action,” said Coleman. “We are grateful for the internal departments and Oglethorpe University for excitedly partnering with us.”
Items collected were delivered to the Consulate of the Bahamas Office in Atlanta. In addition, ten cases of water were donated to My Sister’s House, an overnight homeless shelter supported by the Atlanta Mission.
Thanks to the response from the Hurricane Dorian drive, the Nunn School will be collecting items this holiday for My Sister’s House. More details will be forthcoming.
