Hagley ProgramThe Hagley Program in the History of Capitalism, Technology, and Culture at the University of Delaware invites applications for academic year 2020-21 by those wishing to pursue an M.A. or Ph.D. in history.
Since 1954, this program has been training graduate students interested in industrialization, capitalism, science, technology, consumption, business, labor, and the environment, preparing them for both academic and non-academic professional positions. Many of our students develop an expertise in the study of material culture, and a large number earn a certificate in Museum Studies.
Within the program, students pursue projects on a diverse range of subjects, from transportation and agriculture to marketing and mass media. Affiliated faculty members include a broad array of internationally recognized scholars, and the program has a close working relationship with the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware, one of the nation’s leading institutions dedicated to the history of business and technology. All students in the Hagley Program receive full funding—tuition, stipend, and research funds (two years for M.A. students, five years for PhD. students).
