There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Kim Cobb Kim Cobb, a climate scientist at the Georgia Institute of Technology, is among many researchers seeking alternatives to the current practice of jet-setting to conferences. In an opinion column published in 2018, she and two other scientists urged the American Geophysical Union to support its members in flying less....She pointed out that many people with family commitments and physical limitations can’t easily attend in-person conferences: “Like new parents, people with any kind of serious family obligation, people who are sick and ill themselves,” she said.
