El Niño weather events are about to become more extreme thanks to climate change, study says

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Climate change will cause El Niños to be stronger, a new study suggests....The study adds to growing evidence that “El Nino events are becoming stronger under continued climate change,” said Georgia Tech climate scientist Kim Cobb, who wasn’t part of the research. Cobb's comments on the study were reported also by Newsweek and SavannahNow.com.
