Krystina Madej is Professor of Practice at the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Tech, Atlanta,  Visiting Professor at the Masters of Digital Media, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada where she is an Adjunct Professor with the School for Interactive Arts and Technology, and  Visiting Professor at the University of Lower Silesia, Wroclaw, Poland.  Her research interests include narrative as material culture - how humans have adapted their narratives to changing media throughout the centuries, physical play and children's interaction with digital games that are based in narrative, and in Disney's approach to stories across media since the 1920s. Her books include Physical Play and Children's Digital Games (Springer 2016), Interactivity, Collaboration, and Authoring in Social Media (Springer 2015), and Disney Stories: Getting to Digital (Springer 2012), co-authored with Newton Lee, a senior Disney engineer for ten years. She has also co-edited with Kieran Egan, Engaging Imagination and Developing Creativity (2010), a global discussion about the importance of imagination and creativity in education represented by researchers and educators from Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Italy, Israel, Japan, and Romania. Prior to returning to academia, she was principal in a communications and design firm, creating successful brands, products, and exhibits for government, business, industry, and the non-profit sector. She has a Bachelor of Fine Art from Concordia University in Montreal, an MA in Professional Writing from Kennesaw State, Georgia, and a PhD in Digital Narrative from the School of Interactive Art and Technology at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada.
