There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Marilyn BrownMarilyn Brown, a Regents' and Brook Byers Professor of Sustainable Systems in the Georgia Institute of Technology School of Public Policy, was recently quoted in an article entitled “Proposed Georgia Power Rate Hike Hearings Begin This Week” for WABE, September 30.

Georgia Power is requesting to raise customer rates by about $10 per month for the average residential user.
The request is more than $2.2 billion over the next three years, and hearings before the Public Service Commission are scheduled to happen Monday through Wednesday. Protests are also planned by those who disagree with the hike request.
Many don’t want their bills to go up in general, but some experts are also worried the increase as proposed could stifle energy efficiency.
