Crittenden at TsinghuaBBISS Director, John Crittenden, was invited to present at the 520th Tsinghua University Environmental Academic Salon on the 26th of August, 2019. The event was presided over by Professor Junhua Li. Crittenden’s presentation was entitled "Gigatechnology: Developing Sustainable Urban Infrastructure to Solve Gigaton Problems.” The salon was attended by more than 100 teachers and students. Professor Crittenden’s presentation began with a macroscopic analysis of the severe environmental problems we face and laid out a systems approach to their potential solutions. Crittenden advocates for a holistic approach he calls infrastructure ecology which leverages the integrated design of urban infrastructure systems (Gigatechnologies) to move society towards sustainability. After his presentation, Professor Xia Huang presented Professor Crittenden with an appointment as an Honorary Professor of Tsinghua University. This honor is reserved for only one person each year.
