Minor Changes Made to Tuition Assistance Program

The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) was established to promote the professional growth and development of eligible employees of the University System of Georgia. In order to continue to support this goal the following changes have been made to the TAP policy and operational procedures.

Note: the following information is derived from a memorandum circulated by the University System of Georgia's vice chancellor for human resources on November 2, 2010. 

The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) was established to promote the professional growth and development of eligible employees of the University System of Georgia. In order to continue to support this goal the following changes have been made to the TAP policy and operational procedures. These changes will become effective January 1, 2011.

  • At the August 2010 meeting of the Board of Regents the board approved changes to the current TAP policy to increase the maximum credit hours from eight (8) academic semester hours to nine (9) academic semester credit hours for each of the three designated semester periods to become effective January 1, 2011. 
  • After recommendations from the Chancellor, input from the TAP Advisory Committee and from the Registrars the operational procedure for TAP has been changed to allow employees a minimum of three (3) days prior to the first day of classes to enroll in TAP available classes. The current procedure allows TAP participants to enroll at the end of the regular student registration period, which in some cases is the first day of class. 

TAP enrollment will continue to be granted on a space‐available basis. However, the registration change will allow employees the opportunity to enroll in an available class prior to the actual start date of the class.
