The Georgia Chief Science Officers program, part of Science Atlanta and the Atlanta Science Festival, intern will assist the Program Director in the implementation of a leadership development program for middle and high school students during the academic year. The intern will coach a small group of middle/high school students at 2-4 schools and facilitate the advancement of their leadership and communication skills. The intern will facilitate student work via Google Classroom and provide student feedback, visit school sites to support students' planning, and help connect schools to external partners. Additionally, the intern will assist with one of the following areas, based on intern's interest/experience and program needs: industry mentors/coaches, database management, Google Classroom, event planning, social media, PR/marketing, data collection/analysis. Desired qualifications: experience working with youth (especially in a mentoring/coaching capacity), ability to lead a diverse team, strong written/oral communication, ability to give/receive feedback. Finalists will be subject to a criminal background check prior to receiving an offer.

 

Details:

  •  Internship consists of approximately 125 work hours through May 2020, including 5 hours per week working mostly remotely, plus three all-day Cabinet Meetings. 
  • Some travel is required for school visits and Cabinet Meetings; access to a personal vehicle is helpful. 
  • Mileage and pre-approved expenses will be reimbursed. 
  • The intern will track work hours via a timesheet and will be paid in December and May at $12/hr.
