Prof Kosal speaks at International Nanotechnology Meeting.

International Affairs Assistant Professor, Margaret E. Kosal, spoke in Darmstadt Germany at the second annual meeting of the Society for Nanotechnology and Emerging Technologies (S.NET). An international association that promotes open intellectual exchange towards the advancement of knowledge and understanding of nanotechnologies in society, S.NET represents diverse communities, viewpoints, and methodologies in the social sciences and humanities.

Kosal spoke on her work developing models of strategic interaction to assess the prospective implications of the nanotechnology revolution for international conflict and cooperation. Focusing on applications of nanotechnology for biological defense and potential proliferation of biological weapons, she discussed technical (material) and non-technical (institutions and ideation) factors likely to impact on the development of countermeasure capabilities and threats. This work follows on her book-length work, Nanotechnology for Chemical and Biological Defense, which was highlighted in the Summer 2010 issue of Georgia Tech’s Research Horizons
