There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Georgia Tech, we need your help.
Each year Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) brings its onboarding process right to the middle of campus. More than 500 graduate students will start jobs at Georgia Tech this fall, a flocking that would normally exceed HR’s capacity. To meet the demand, GTHR brings the hiring process directly to the new employees by hosting a two-day onboarding event called GradHiring held in Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons (CULC).
At GradHiring, students who have been offered employment will walk through their hiring process en masse, including the completion and submission of new hire documents as well as the opportunity to meet with representatives from Global HR, the U.S. Social Security Administration and a select group of banks.
If hosted at GTHR’s 500 Tech Parkway office, the onboarding of this many students one week before classes would take an estimated 5,000 hours. By hosting GradHiring and with your help, the processing time is reduced to less than 100 hours.
Part of these efficiencies is achieved through a small army of volunteers who work side-by-side with GTHR professionals. Georgia Tech employees from all over campus volunteer in four-hour increments to enjoy some face time with students. For some employees, especially those in administration or finance roles, this is one of the few opportunities they have for direct interaction.
The GradHiring volunteer window has officially opened. If you are interested, please click here.
We encourage you to share this article with anyone who hires or manages graduate student employees. GradHiring will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 14 and 15 in the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons (CULC), third floor. Students may choose to arrive at any time during either session. Look out for more information including direct emails to managers and potential graduate student employees.
