A penny saved is a penny earned, but a penny invested is two pennies earned!

You came to Georgia Tech to pursue your passions, make a change in the world, and eventually…make some big bucks. But why not start now? A dollar may not seem like much money, but did you know that if you doubled that dollar every day for just 20 days you’d be a millionaire? As a matter of fact, Albert Einstein once said that “Compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world.” Now there isn’t just one way to make your money work for you, and there are a lot of money making techniques that we know will align best with your student lifestyle and ramen budget.

To help students with a better understanding of their finances and how to successfully transition in and out of their college experience, Health Initiatives has designed a course just for you. It is a highly personalized and self-paced experience. The interactive experience will help you learn key financial decision-making skills and apply them to important real-life scenarios. The three main topics of this course are as follows: school expenses, personal expenses, and career/post-graduation decisions. Here is some of the key information that you will be trained on through the Transit Financial Wellness online course:

  • Understanding and managing financial aid
  • Comprehending spending, banking, and credit decisions
  • Managing school expenses and avoiding unnecessary debt
  • Setting long-term savings goals
  • Understanding credit scores, mortgages, and investing
  • Managing a budget and differentiating “needs” from “wants”
  • Student loan repayment options and responsibilities

78% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and the average American household carrying over $137,000 in debt. This isn’t necessarily because of how much Americans make, but more so because of how they spend and their poor financial literacy. So, if you’re ready to break this cycle and control your money, rather than have it control you, take the next step and register for the Transit Financial Wellness course now by visiting healthinitiatives.gatech.edu/transit.
