Those who work and park in the southwest sector of campus will notice more disruption this week as Phase I of construction begins on the Campus Center project.

A new configuration of the W02 parking deck will go into effect this week. New equipment has been installed that will enable the deck to now function as both permitted and visitor parking.

A few things to know about the deck changes:

  • Those who park in W02 will now enter the deck from Ferst Drive.
  • The new exit will be on the eastern side of the deck where the road connects to the Area 2 visitor lot.
  • The W03 and Area 3 parking lots are now permanently closed.
  • The W02 parking deck will now have 80 visitors parking spaces to account for some of the loss of the Area 3 visitors lot.

Permit holders assigned to W02 will not see any changes to their access to the deck, but should be mindful of the new equipment and configuration.

In addition to the impact on parking in this area, the pedestrian path between Stamps Health Services and the Smithgall Student Services Building (Flag Building) will be closed during Phase I of construction. Members of the community are encouraged to use the sidewalk along Ferst Drive or paths through the Instructional Center quad as detour options. In the early part of the summer, both the bus stop on the east side of Ferst Drive at the Campus Recreation Center and the path between the Instructional Center Lawn and the Ferst Center for the Arts will change temporarily to facilitate construction. Wayfinding signage will be on site, along with additional information on the Facilities Construction Notice and Campus Center project websites.

More information about the Campus Center project, including construction site maps and information on the finished facilities, can be found at reinnovation.studentcenter.gatech.edu.
