Thursday, May 8, from 6–8:30 p.m.
Mary Schmidt Campbell, PhD, president of Spellman College, the country's leading liberal arts college for black women, and Kimberly Wallace-Sanders, PhD, associate professor of American Studies and African American Studies in Emory's department of African American Studies, will talk about their shared interests in African American photography and African American cultural studies.
This program was inspired by the "Framing Shadows" exhibition curated by Wallace-Sanders. In display though Dec. 31, it offers insight into the experiences of the largely anonymous 19th and early 20th century African Americans who served as child care providers for white families.
Seating is limited. Please register at http://emorylib.info/shadows. The event is open to the public at no charge.
