Sau Palo - Jens BrinkmannJens Brinkmann has worked across a wide range of disciplines, designing everything from furniture, apartments, housing units for seasonal living up to large scale urban interventions. Brinkmann was born in Hannover, Germany, in 1973 and graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, as Master of Architecture in 1998 and from the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany, as Diplom Engineer Arch. in 2001.
He has worked in Chile, Germany, the USA, France and Brazil for clients based in Europe, North and South America. In 2000 he worked at Architects Jean Nouvel in Paris. Between 2002 and 2003 he collaborated with Paulo Mendes da Rocha and MMBB Arquitetos in São Paulo as well as working as project architect for Andrade Morettin Arquitetos. In 2004, he moved to Berlin, where he set up his own practice UNITED Architektur.
Brinkmann has been Guest Critic at universities in Portugal (Porto), France (Paris/Strasbourg) and Brazil (São Paulo). He is currently Assistant Professor at the Brandenburgische Technische Universität in Cottbus (BTU), where he teaches architectural design at the chair for Project, Experiment and Design of Prof. Bernd Huckriede. He has published articles on Topography and Architecture in São Paulo, Gated Communities in Brazil and Seasonal Living. At BTU Brinkmann coordinated the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)-Program for University advisers 2007-09 between BTU and AEAUSP in São Paulo. He is currently coordinating the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) Program “Partnerships in science, research and education, African Pilot Project” - which includes Angola, Germany and Brazil.
