In May 1977, Michael Tennenbaum created an endowment to fund the Tennenbaum lecture series. By bringing to the Georgia Tech campus each year a prominent political economist, the lectures are intended to provide the Georgia Tech community a better appreciation of the relationship between political decisions and the economic consequences of these decisions for the U.S. economy. Michael Tennenbaum was a 1958 graduate of the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
The 2001 Tennenbaum Lecture has been rescheduled and will be held Tuesday, May 14, at 11:00 A.M. in the Tennenbaum Auditorium. Lawrence B. Lindsey, assistant to the President for Economic Policy and director of the National Economic Council at the White House, will speak on “The Roles of Fiscal and Monetary Policy.” The lecture was originally scheduled for September 20, 2001, but was postponed due to the events of September 11. Lindsey says he will provide a better perspective on how the recent events and military actions are affecting economic policy.
