There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Started in 1995 as a research project for developing a prototype problem-solving environment, the NEOS Server for Optimization has evolved into a collaborative research project by the optimization community. Usuage of the NEOS Server has grown steadily as new algorithms and facilities are added, and now averages over 5,000 job submissions per month. Research issues include performance, scheduling, interfaces, automatic differentiation, mathematical programming languages, and distributed computing. In this talk we describe the current status of the NEOS Server and current research in developing interfaces and benchmarking guidelines.
