The “Speaking W/O Limit” exhibit, organized by the "Webcomics: Print and Digital Culture" first year writing class, will feature student research on webcomics ranging from well-known titles, such as xkcd, to relatively niche ones, such as Mom’s Cancer. The exhibit will expose the GT community to a deeper world of webcomics, showing viewers that their favorite online comics feature meaningful, revolutionary, and often underappreciated aspects. Student researchers drew from scholarly articles to analyze topics such as creators’ online identity, digital affordances, digital vs. print mediums, the variety of webcomic purposes, and the development of global communities online. This event is the opening of the exhibit (located on the 3rd floor of Clough), where students from the class will be available to answer questions and present their research. The physical display is also accompanied by an online exhibit, which will go live on April 16th.
