The mission of the 1990 Institute is educating the next generation of Americans and Chinese to broaden and increase mutual understanding. In keeping with their mission, they are proud to announce an essay contest for all undergraduates which emphasizes exceptional research and scholarship, subject to the requirement that the topic must be about or relate to modern China, focused on the following areas: economics, women's rights, and/or technology.

Submissions are being accepted until April 30, 2019.

Winners will be announced July 15, 2019 and will have the opportunity to present their papers at China Now, a 1990 Institute in Redwood City, CA on July 26 and 27, 2019.
