There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

In the first of this series of seminars and in a paper [1], Amy analyzed heavy traffic limits and pooling in a two server network with a finite threshold at one server and the overflowing customers going to a second server with an infinite capacity waiting area. I will use Amy's system to illustrate the methodology in [2] for obtaining exact asymptotics for the stationary distribution ( i, j ) for this system and discuss pooling in the rare event context. My hope is that the audience will realize that they can use the methodology in [2] to analyze rare events in systems of their own choosing.
