Join us on April 23rd for a Smart India Lunch Presentation.

We are delighted to bring Professor and Head Joy Sen, Department of Architecture and Regional Planning for the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur here to campus. He will delivering a key presentation on Indian Smart Cities.  

We will also be presenting the work of a Georgia Tech Studio class on Smart Varnasi.

Varnasi is a holy city resting on the banks of the Ganges, home to 1.4 million residents and host to over 6 million pilgrims and tourists each year. With a history dating back over 3,000 years, there are challenges of updating this city to meet the needs of its future residents while preserving its rich culture and heritage are intricate.

Together with Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi, Georgia Tech have been working on a semester-long studio course. The class is working to develop and implement smart city updates that will best serve the people of Varanasi through transportation solutions, environmental protection, and economic stimulation.
