The Center for European and Transatlantic Studies (CETS) in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and the Atlanta Global Studies Center (AGSC) hosted H.W. Jonatan Vseviov, the Estonian Ambassador to the United States, for a discussion on security.

Vseviov's talk “Estonia's Security Triangle: the European Union, the United States, and Russia,” was about its current and past security issues. Its geographic location and history leave it at risk to Russian intervention and this has made security a top priority for the nation. The threat has led Estonia to create alliances and develop its capabilities. Vseviov emphasized during his talks that Estonians are not afraid of Russia, but because of its history, they want to be prepared.

Following his presentation, Vseviov' attended a luncheon with undergraduate and graduate students.

Jonatan Vseviov assumed the role as  Estonia's Ambassador to the United States in August 2018. Since 2016, he served as the Ministry of Defense Secretary General. Before this role, he held diplomatic positions in Washington DC as the political diplomat and defense policy advisor.

Through events like this, CETS tries to enhance public awareness and understanding of the EU-U.S. relationship. Similarly, AGSC attempts to advanced language learning and deepen knowledge of global and intercultural issues.
