There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. The hurricanes that pounded Puerto Rico in 2017, blasting away most of its forest cover, may give scientists clues to how the world will respond to climate change and increasingly severe weather. Kim Cobb of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences commented on the new experiments at El Yunque. “It is well worth the effort,” she said. “The raw beauty of these environments is really only matched by their immense scientific potential.” The work, with commentary from Cobb, was also reported by The New Zealand Herald.
