Bruce JentlesonJoin the Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy as it hosts Dr. Bruce Jentleson. Dr. Jentleson will start with an overview of the who, why, and how of breakthroughs for global peace and security on issues long thought intractable by twentieth-century leaders of a variety of types—national, international institutional, social movements, NGOs. Among the cases are Henry Kissinger-Zhou Enlai’s U.S.-China opening, Mikhail Gorbachev and the end of the Cold War, Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld’s empowering the United Nations, and less well-known yet also highly consequential figures such as Peter Benenson, founder of Amnesty International. Based on this analysis draws out lessons for the challenges we and our leaders face in the 21st Century world.
