The event, which includes readings from his genre-bending work and discussions about his eclectic roster of artists and creators, will take place from 11 to 12:30. No registration is required, and there is no cost.
“We’re honored to kick off our science fiction author series with a propulsive and groundbreaking talent like Bill Campbell,” said Karen Viars, Georgia Tech Librarian. “With roots in genre fiction, pop culture commentary and representation throughout speculative media, he’s the perfect working creative to break-in the new Library.”
Bill Campbell is the publisher of Rosarium press and author of Sunshine Patriots, My Booty Novel, Pop Culture: Politics, Puns, "Poohbutt" from a Liberal Stay-at-Home Dad and Koontown Killing Kaper. Along with Edward Austin Hall, he co-edited the groundbreaking anthology, Mothership: Tales from Afrofuturism and Beyond.
Campbell comes to the Georgia Tech Library to promote the school’s extensive science fiction collection, formed from the donated personal collection of Literature, Media and Communication professor Irving "Bud" Foote in 1998.
From his initial donation, the collection has grown to include thousands of science fiction works and criticism for research and leisure reading. The collection also includes significant periodicals where many science fiction writers have been featured over the years, such as Fantasy & Science Fiction, Asimov's, and FemSpec.
