Biographical Sketch of the Speaker:
C. Meade Sutterfield is an angel and private equity investor primarily in emerging telecommunications and health care IT entities since 1995. He currently serves on advisory boards for private equity firms Council Capital and Antares Capital, as well as a director on the boards of two companies among those in which he currently is an investor. He is and has been very involved in the startup ecosystem in Atlanta.

From 1985-1993 he was a founder and President of PowerFone, Inc in the Midwest and Johnson Communications Corporation in the southeastern United States, both wireless carriers. These companies were merged into the rollup which created Nextel Communications as a nationwide company. He was previously CEO of Alliance-Wall, an executive with Kimberly-Clark and for eight years with Scientific-Atlanta in nine positions Europe and the US.

Meade's education includes a BEE from the Georgia Tech in 1972 and an MBA from Harvard University in 1974, both with honors. He attended Georgia Tech on a football scholarship.

Meade is a past Chair of the Alumni Association of the Georgia Tech. He currently serves on the Institute's Foundation Board and the Advisory Boards for the Electrical Engineering School and the Flashpoint at Georgia Tech Incubator. He was also President of the Harvard Business School (Alumni) Club of Atlanta.

He is a past Chair of the Society of International Business Fellows (SIBF) and a Past Chair of the Global Network Foundation (GNF) of SIBF. In 2002, he was one of the founders of the Central Eurasian Leadership Alliance (CELA) and has helped build the program to a network of over 500 members. He was also extensively involved in the founding of the related Middle East Leadership Academy (MELA) and the Southeast Asia Leadership Academy (SEALA).

He is married to Susan and they have four married children and nine grandchildren. Meade has a passion for his family, tennis and Georgia Tech.
