No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Most individuals want to help save lives, but avoid talking about suicide because they are unsure of how to identify someone at risk or they are concerned about saying the wrong things or making a situation worse. Saving lives begins with learning what to do.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. At Georgia Tech, the Tech Ends Suicide Together initiative offers many QPR gatekeeper training sessions, and this year will also offer a QPR instructor training to enable campus community members to become certified instructors.
These general QPR trainings are open to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff. The upcoming sessions for Spring 2019 are as follows:
Register for a spring workshop.
In instructor training, participants will learn how to lead QPR intervention training and then be able to put their training into practice by facilitating two QPR gatekeeper trainings per semester.
If you are interested in attending the all-day training on Tuesday, Jan. 15, contact Julia Rizzo at endsuicide@gatech.edu or at 404-385-3850.
