Atlanta cultural developer and Georgia Institute School of Technology School of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC) alumnus Gene Kansas has joined the School's Advisory Board. Kansas graduated from the Institute in 2016 with a Master of Science in Digital Media. 

Working over 20 years in Atlanta commercial real estate, Kansas has garnered a reputation as a champion of historic preservation, adaptive reuse, community building, and storytelling through the built environment.

As the founder and president of Gene Kansas Commercial Real Estate, his company preserved the historic Atlanta Daily World Building in Sweet Auburn, which was named the second greatest preservation win by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2014.

Kansas is the creator and founder of Constellations, a civic and socially-based shared workspace on Auburn Avenue, which received a “Development of Excellence” award from the Atlanta Regional Commission in 2018.

Kansas says he is committed to helping bring business insights to the cultural and creative classroom, and leverage his experience to the benefit of students.  

LMC is a unit of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.
