Have you ever done the tax-paper shuffle?
You check those folders you keep in “secure locations” in April trying to collect everything you need to file your taxes. Maybe you’ve even been in the situation where you can’t find the most important one — your W-2.
W-2s become available in January, either electronically or by mail. The easiest way to avoid the tax-paper shuffle is by requesting to you receive your W-2 electronically. Not only is a digital copy easier to keep track of, it’s also more secure.
To receive your W-2 electronically in 2019:
However, if you like receiving your W-2 in the mail, make sure it will actually arrive at your home.
Georgia Tech Human Resources mails W-2s to the address shown on your last paystub. If the address you last provided Human Resources is not correct, we cannot guarantee you will receive your W-2 nor can we guarantee the new resident of that address won’t open it, which jeopardizes your identity.
