There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. The Georgia Tech Police Department (GTPD) has started a new initiative, the Auto Report Card, to reduce the number of stolen vehicles and thefts from vehicles on campus.
“Officers will survey various locations on campus to check for unsecured vehicles and valuables left in plain sight, and each vehicle will receive a ‘report card’ with a passing or failing rating,” said Officer Jessica Howard, who works with GTPD’s Crime Prevention Unit. “If the vehicle fails, the officer will include a note with the reasoning behind the score. In addition, helpful theft prevention tips will be included on the report card.”
GTPD will be strategic in the planning of locations and times of the day when report cards are issued, in order to avoid the report cards sitting for extended periods of time on vehicles.
