Meet Brian Castro – B.S. Architecture, Class of 2021

Hometown – St. Marys, Georgia

Why did you choose to major in architecture?

For as long as I can remember, I've been determined to become an architect. As someone who has had an interest in almost everything, I found architecture to be something of a connecting link – a profession that commonly borrows from a variety of disciplines ranging widely between the sciences and the arts to develop something that not only contributes to the continuous dialogue of defining beauty, but also in forming structures that offer practical solutions to the needs and challenges of society.

How do you plan to use your degree after graduation?

I intend to join an architecture firm for a few years and gain working experience, as well as obtain my Master of Architecture and take the Architecture Registration Exam — all necessary steps to become a licensed architect. Ultimately, I aspire to open my own firm and focus on sustainable design.

What do you like to do outside of your coursework?

I love to read and write, and I enjoy playing tennis with friends.

What have you enjoyed most about Georgia Tech?

The many friends I have made here at Tech have offered, each in their own ways, enriching and fulfilling experiences that have made every day something profoundly enjoyable for me.
