The executive sponsors charged with overseeing implementation of the objectives for A Path Forward — Together have invited students to join them as partners in the process.

“Students are the driving force behind and principal beneficiaries for the majority of objectives, and we need and want them to remain active during the implementation phase,” said Lynn Durham, associate vice president and chief of staff for the Office of the President. “We’re grateful for their energy and ideas in pursuit of positive, productive change.”

The objectives fall into three broad areas of emphasis: academics, health and well-being, and student and community life. Executive sponsors provide quarterly updates on the status of the objectives assigned to them.

Students joining the effort include:

  • Haigh Angell, undergraduate student, economics
  • Andrew Cox, graduate student, aerospace engineering
  • Jordan Madison, undergraduate student, computer science
  • Zoë Sieling, undergraduate student, aerospace engineering
  • Nico Urbicain, undergraduate student, mechanical engineering

Health and Well-being

  • Meagan Banks, undergraduate student, public policy
  • Caitlyn Britt, undergraduate student, computer science

  • Evan Gillon, undergraduate student, public policy
  • Genny Onyiuke-Kennedy, undergraduate student, international affairs

“We are committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and healthy community for our students, staff, and faculty,” Durham said. “Working together, we will create a positive legacy out of tragedy and grief.”

Advisory Group Changes Announced
To coordinate the work of A Path Forward — Together, President G.P. “Bud” Peterson has asked Jen Abrams, a development associate in the Athletic Association and former Georgia Tech student body president, to serve as chair of the Advisory Group, which monitors progress on the objectives.

“Jen is a respected leader on campus who brings a unique perspective to this initiative,” he said. “She is a passionate advocate for Georgia Tech and is committed to improving the educational and student life experience for all students.”

Peterson also named Andrew Cahill, a mechanical engineering undergraduate, as the new student representative on the Advisory Group. Cahill, who also serves as vice president of campus organizations in the Student Government Association, succeeds Abheer Bipin, who is graduating in December.

“I want to thank Abheer for his dedication to and passion for helping his fellow students through his work on A Path Forward - Together,” Peterson said.
