As Halloween approaches, get in the spirit by checking out some of the festive events happening around campus and beyond.
First-year students in the School of Industrial Design will design and carve pumpkins in the third annual Pumpkin Ramble on Thursday, Oct. 25. But these pumpkins won't be ghouls — they will be works of art inspired by famous designers.
The Campus Recreation Center (CRC) will host the annual Halloween Holla 5K Run & Walk on Wednesday, Oct. 31 (postponed from Oct. 26). Wear your favorite Halloween costume for a chance to win prizes. Students interested in participating can register online in advance or the morning of the race in the CRC lobby. Registration ends at 7:15 a.m. on race day.
On Oct. 27, Skyline Park at Ponce City Market will host a special event featuring food, games, and spooky prizes. For ticket information, visit the event website.
Through Oct. 28, Stone Mountain will feature Halloween and fall-themed park attractions, games, shows, and more. Wear a Halloween costume for a $10 discount. Visit the park’s website for more information.
The 6th Annual Fox Theatre Ghost Tours will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, through Tuesday, Oct. 30. See the Fox Theatre transform into a creepy, ghostly venue. Each tour is an hour and features stories from Mr. and Mrs. Fox, who will be joined by other characters from the Fox’s past. Purchase tickets here.
From Oct. 28–31, SCPC will host Halloween movies, pumpkin carving, and games. Visit SCPC’s Facebook page for details.
On Oct. 31, Tech Rec will offer a free game of bowling to students in costume. The special deal will be offered all day, so stop by between classes or for a study break.
Wear a costime, smash a pumpkin, and buy something from a bake sale hosted by physcis students on Oct. 31.
On Oct. 31, the History and Sociology Club will host Georgia Tech's third annual history-themed costume party. The event will be held in the Old Civil Engineering Building courtyard from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Students are encouraged to come in costume. There will be free food and drinks, as well as prizes for the best costumes.
All students are invited to attend International Coffee Hour from 11 a.m. to noon on Oct. 31 in the Student Center Peachtree Room. The event will include a costume contest, special treats, and an opportunity to learn about Halloween traditions from around the world.
Once Halloween is over, help make the most of carved jack-o-lanterns by volunteering with MOVE to compost pumpkins. Volunteers are needed both Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 on West and East campus.
