There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. The 2nd Baikal International Environmental Water Forum took place in Irkutsk, Russia on September 20th and 21st. Over the course of two days, national representatives and other speakers discussed the implications of state policy and the role of international cooperation in preserving the Lake Baikal ecosystem. Kate Pride Brown, assistant professor of sociology in HSOC, participated in the invited plenary session of the event. The Forum also published a short article about her research and involvement with Lake Baikal, which can be found here.
