Shatakshee Dhongde, Associate Professor at the School of Economics, was invited to present her research at the Georgia Governor’s Tourism Conference. The conference is Georgia's largest tourism conference and drew together scholars and practitioners working on different aspects of tourism and economic development in the state of Georgia. Dr. Dhongde participated in a panel organized by the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Her talk discussed the economic impact of infrastructure projects in Georgia. Her current research on multi-purpose trails revealed that these projects not only helps increase tourism but also has a significant impact on reducing poverty, and bridging the rural-urban inequality in the state.
