The theme of the symposium held on September 5th was “Building Inclusive Communities: The Path Forward – Together.” Renee Shelby, HSTS graduate student, participated in a forum of faculty, staff, and students, focused on how we can support the Institute’s commitment to an inclusive, safe, and healthy community.
Other events of the symposium included an opening keynote from Charlayne Hunter-Gault, an award-winning journalist and author, and panels on inclusion in higher education. The Diversity Symposium Awards Luncheon also included Diversity Champion Awards and Faces of Inclusive Excellence presentations followed by a luncheon keynote from Ange-Marie Hancock Alfaro, professor and chair of gender studies at the University of Southern California.
