Learn the skills you need to not only ace this quiz but prepare you for a future career in health by volunteering as a Pharmacy Tech in the SHS pharmacy. Applications are now open to work alongside licensed Georgia Tech pharmacists for the 2018-2019 school year. This program is geared toward pre-health students who are interested in a medical or health related career field. SHS Pharmacy Manager, Nina Thoman said, “This experience is a great opportunity for our students to build practical medical experience, learn patient interaction skills as well as understand how and what drugs are used in the treatment of disease. It’s a great stepping off point for any pre-health student to get a leg up whether they are pursuing medical school or biopharmaceuticals after college.”
Applicants must be able to volunteer for two consecutive semesters in the pharmacy for three hours shifts twice a week. During this time you’ll participate in all of the activities involved in receiving a prescription order from a provider, filling/dispensing a prescription to a patient, allergy and drug interaction monitoring, and medication therapy management. This hands-on experience allows you to increase your pharmacological knowledge base and perfect practice patient interactions all while still in college.
