We need you – students, faculty, and staff to be on the look-out for suspicious activity to enhance security. Recently the U.S. Department of Homeland Security rolled out the “See Something, Say Something” program that solicits the help of citizens in the fight against terrorism.

Please report any suspicious behavior on campus to the GTPD at 404-894-2500. The obvious question is, “What is suspicious activity” in a campus setting? Basically, if something doesn’t look right, give us a call. Other indicators to look for include:

  • Out of the normal activity
  • People out of place, or who don’t belong in a particular location or setting
  • People showing an interest in security and access points to facilities
  • Vehicles abandoned, illegally parked, or generally just out of place
  • Someone listening into your sensitive conversation
  • Parking or loitering in the same area over a period of days without a valid reason
  • Someone with special magnification lenses or night vision devices for cameras or video cameras
  • Someone with photos, maps, sketches, or blueprints of public buildings, power plants or other potential targets
  • Computer access to information about sensitive sites
  • Literature that promotes jihad, racist activities, terrorist/extremist agendas, or extremist religious beliefs
  • Bomb-making, military, or law enforcement manuals

What else can you do?

  • Watch “Get Ready Georgia – If You See Something, Say Something” on YouTube:
  • Sign up for the free “See Something, Say Something” class on www.trainsweb.gatech.edu. Participants will review pre-incident indicators, potential targets, threat tactics and prevention strategies.  Learn how to identify suspicious situations and who to report them to.  This class is an elective Class for Emergency Preparedness Certificate Program.

So, if you See Something, Say Something! If you prefer, you can remain anonymous. Your involvement is important.
