Besedes Presents Research in Denmark and Switzerland

This summer Tibor Besedes, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Programs, traveled to Denmark and Switzerland where he presented four papers. Besedes visited the Tuborg Research Centre for Globalisation and Firms at Aarhus University in Aarhus, Denmark where he interacted with faculty, graduate students, and presented his paper, “Phase out Tariffs, Phase in Trade?” During his time in Denmark, Besedes attended the XIVth Danish International Economics Workshop and gave a seminar at the University of Oslo where he presented “Trade Integration and the Fragility of Trade Relationships: Theory and Empirics.”

 

In addition to his work in Aarhus and Olso, he also presented his paper "“Trade Liberalization and Female Welfare: Less Discrimination or New Discrimination?” at the Asian Dynamics Initiative Conference in Copenhagen, Demark. This paper is co-authored by Assistant Professor Seung Hoon Lee, and Ph.D. student Tongyang Yang. At the European Research Workshop in International Trade organized by the Centre for Economic Policy Research, Besedes presented his paper “Experimenting with Ash: The Trade-Effects of Airspace Closures in the Aftermath of Eyjafjallajökull” at the University of St. Gallen, St. Gallen, Switzerland.
