Enjoy the outdoors and explore local hiking trails throughout the month of September with a Campus Recreation guide on the Graduate Welcome Walks. Registration is required and closes September 1st. Register at mycrc.gatech.edu. 

WEST – Sweetwater Creek   Sept 1, 8 am – 4 pm

Part 1:  Follow Sweetwater Creek past an old textile mill burned during the Civil War. Trails climb rocky bluffs providing views of beautiful rapids. Enjoy beauty like ferns, amphibians, wild azaleas & reptiles.   

Part 2:  Basic-level stand-up paddle boarding on Sweetwater Lake

NORTH – Kennesaw Mountain   Sept 8, 8 am – 2 pm

Part 1: Mountain Biscuit Company for breakfast.

Part 2: Trek over Little Kennesaw mountain then up to the top of Big Kennesaw. Before Atlanta fell to General Sherman’s Union army in 1864, a fierce battle raged at the base & on the face of the mountains.  

NORTH – Emery Creek   Sept 15, 8 am – 5 pm

The 6.5 mile Emery Creek Trail follows lushly forested creek banks to a pair of stunning, beautiful, remote waterfalls. Along its scenic length, the trail splashes through 20 creek crossings to the tumbling cascades of Emery Creek Falls.
